Although Tony Radford is the coolest Englishman on the planet there have been plenty of other cool Englishmen and women. We will write about some of them.
Not only are the English people pretty cool people, in many respects, but England itself is quite cool place. It has given many things to the world, such as the English language, parliamentary democracy and The Beatles. We will list some of those also.
England is the largest part of the island of Britain. It is a nation with something of an identity crisis. For example the other nations of the Union – Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have strong cultural symbols which are lacking in England. Many English people are unsure whether to describe themselves as ‘English’ or ‘British’. It seems as though the English have no national identity. The British are citizens of the UK – the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
